Import Export Executive

Education:
  • MBA/PGDM in Logistics, Supply Chain Managementn or related field
Shipment Management & Coordination:
  • Daily monitoring and updates of all import and export shipments.
  • Manage booking, nomination, and intimation updates with freight forwarders and shipping lines.
  • Provide real-time updates on in-transit shipments, docking, and arrival schedules.
  • Coordinate with purchase, PPC (Production Planning & Control), stores, finance, and logistics teams to ensure smooth inbound and outbound operations.
Documentation & Compliance:
  • Oversee all shipping documentation, including Bill of Lading (BL), Import General Manifest (IGM), and other necessary paperwork.
  • Ensure all documents are accurate and complete for customs clearance.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers to facilitate timely and hassle-free customs clearance.
  • Monitor and track all customs-related notifications and regulations.
Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EXIM regulations and government notifications.
  • Stay informed on Anti-Dumping Duties and other trade remedies that may affect imports.
  • Ensure all procedures are followed to prevent delays or penalties.
Freight Forwarding
  • Manage RFQs (Requests for Quotation) for import cargo and logistics services.
  • Negotiate freight rates with ocean, air, carriers, ensuring cost-effective and efficient import shipping solutions.
  • Evaluate and select freight forwarder based on performance, cost, service level, and compliance.
  • Coordinate with suppliers monitor and manage container bookings, vessel schedules as per cargo readiness and production requirement
  • Act as the point of contact between Procurement, CHA and Warehouse teams regarding import shipments.
  • Track shipments from origin to destination and proactively resolve any delays or disruptions.
  • Maintain and update tracking reports to monitor the status of import shipments and ensure timely delivery.
  • Review and approve freight invoices, ensuring accuracy and alignment with negotiated rates.
Reporting & Analysis:
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on shipment status, costs, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Track performance metrics (e.g., cost per container, on-time delivery, detention/demurrage fees) to measure carrier performance. Prepare and present regular reports on import freight spend and savings opportunities.
  • Utilize advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
Stakeholder Communication:
  • Communicate effectively with all internal teams and external partners, including freight forwarders, suppliers, and customs agents.
  • Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies related to shipments.
Desired Candidate Profile
  • 3-4 years of hands-on experience in import and export operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in managing logistics, documentation, and customs clearance.
  • In-depth knowledge of EXIM regulations, shipping procedures, and Incoterms.
  • Familiarity with documentation such as Bill of Lading (BL) and Import General Manifest (IGM).
