Rayzon Solar Directors’ Take on Union Budget 2026–27

The Union Budget 2026–27 sent a clear message to the renewable energy sector — India is doubling down on solar and clean energy deployment with stronger fiscal support, manufacturing incentives, and enabling policies for storage and grid integration to accelerate deployment across segments.

From a manufacturing and deployment standpoint, the sharp increase in solar allocations — up nearly 30% year-on-year — signals government confidence in clean energy’s central role in India’s growth story. Schemes like the PM Surya Ghar rooftop programme and PM-KUSUM for agri solar have received significantly higher funding, reaffirming the nation’s push for both distributed and utility-scale solar solutions.

One of the most impactful budget measures for the solar manufacturing ecosystem is the extension of customs duty exemptions on key inputs like sodium antimonate for solar glass and capital goods for lithium-ion cells and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This reduction in input costs will make domestic solar panel, storage and BOS (Balance Of System) manufacturing globally competitive and help accelerate grid-scale integration of renewables.

Further, strategic moves — such as provisions for critical minerals, rare earth corridors, and a continued focus on boosting the Make-in-India agenda — indicate that the government views solar energy and associated technologies not just as utilities but as national strategic industries for the long term. There is more than 100% increase in budget allocation to SECI (Rs 1329 Cr to Rs 2885 Crs), which will further strengthen the entire ecosystem.

At Rayzon Solar, we see the Budget not merely as numbers on paper but as an affirmation of India’s solar leadership ambitions. Increased funding for rooftop solar and farm-solar schemes will drive greater demand across B2B, B2C and institutional buyers. Duty rationalisation and manufacturing incentives will encourage deeper value addition locally — a key factor for us as we expand capacity, innovate in module solutions, and aim for global competitiveness.

That said, clarity and execution on policy frameworks — especially around long-term financing, storage policy, and distribution reforms — will be essential to turn these announcements into real-world outcomes.

In summary, Budget 2026 strengthens India’s solar growth trajectory, enhances competitiveness for domestic manufacturing, and creates fertile ground for solar companies and innovators to scale faster — aligning well with Rayzon Solar’s long-term vision of making India a global hub in sustainable energy.
